To consistently move your life forward is the most challenging aspect in the experience of life. So many of us get stuck in the mud of complacency and miss the target. Or we hit brick walls and don’t know how to pivot. Change suddenly becomes the scariest demand placed upon us and we would much rather stick with the devil we know and the ease of familiarity.
But that’s not how life works. There is a force that nudges us along the path of life. We all know that change is inevitable and yet resistance prevails. While we are busy throwing tantrums our circumstances are progressively changing to reflect the newest versions of our being. Here’s some tips to keep you out of stagnation, move forward and align with your life.
1. Self-Evaluation
Be honest. Where are you now? Are you able to discern yourself internally for personal growth and evolution? Advancement requires self-awareness that leads to self-actualization. Take some time away from distractions for self-reflection. Honestly and objectively judging yourself determines what you need to do to flourish. Starting with self-evaluation always gives you a clue as to your next step onward.
2. Be the Fool
When it comes to traveling new pathways, you may not always feel like you are ready to take the leap. This is understandable as the unknown is downright scary. Who, what, where, when, and how am I going to pull this off. The details will not always be known to you, but it is important to take action even when the circumstances are unknown. It’s all about gaining new experience to expand your opportunities and developing your full potential.
3. During the Journey
Be persistent. One of the best affirmations to motivate you to stay on the course is, I’ve come this far and I want to see what happens when I don’t give up. Even if you start trailing off the intended path, pick it back up again. Reset and start again. Give yourself some compassion as self-pity and negative emotions won’t support you in the process of moving forward. The key to progress is to keep moving by putting one foot in front of the other. Simply focus on the next achievable step and repeat.
4. Face Your Inner Critic
Self-Doubt is a predator, a hard contender. Everyone sabotages themselves in this way from time to time. Personal entrapment within the mind will hold you back. Face your inner critic by acknowledging your feelings and fear, create some space and question default reactions. Build your self-confidence. Then, maintain your self-confidence daily to nurture your resilience and to push forward.
5. Be Direct
Eliminate emotions from the situation. Emotional instability is a common pitfall. They tend to get in your way causing indecisiveness. Use logic, analysis, and critical thinking as your allies that will help you to see clearly. Practice honest and direct communication with yourself to move with clarity. The ability to put clarity in action supports you in making sound decisions. The best way you can move forward is through your choices and decision making.
In Summary
Avoid resistance by frequently checking in with yourself to remove internal roadblocks. Stay in flow and alignment with your life by not allowing yourself to get in your own way.
